New York Cares' Fundraiser:
Adults & Children with Special Needs
New York Cares
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Apr 30, 2011
HERE'S THE STORY:
A great thing about New York City is how diverse and large its population is. But a bad thing is that sometimes there just aren’t enough resources to go around. No one knows this more than adults and children with special needs living in New York City.
New York Cares volunteers are there to provide a little extra care, companionship, and support to people who could benefit from a little extra help. Through our programs, volunteers provide important social interaction while teaching essential independent-living skills to the physically disabled. It’s a win-win for everyone.
Our programs fall into three main categories: 1) education programs, where we do brainy activities like book groups and computer classes; 2) sports and fitness projects, such as bowling, runs in the park, and horse riding; and 3) fun and games. Do we really need to explain that last one? Okay, we will: Bingo. Arts and crafts. Bingo. Jewelry-making. Bingo. Musical performances. Bingo. Cooking classes. Oh yeah, and BINGO (we love bingo).
A $20 donation will buy more books, balls, and Bingo sets and allow us to plan even more of these projects. Someone, please, click Donate now.
All donations will support New York Cares' general programming, which provides critical services to 400,000 at-risk New Yorkers each year. For information on making donations to support specific programs, please contact Jennifer.Goldschein@newyorkcares.org.
