BENEFITING: TEFL INTERNATIONAL

ORGANIZER: TEFL INTERNATIONAL

EVENT DATE: May 26, 2012

THE STORY:

We will be sending balloons carrying 1000 socks on the last Saturday of this month, along the border of the DMZ, to reach North Korea. A pair of socks may be worn for warmth and converted for 20 kilos of corn, enough to feed a person for a month.

We invite YOU, the reader to participate and contribute in the 5 Action Steps available below.

Here are photos from our last launching, on our Facebook page: ===>  North Korea Peace Facebook

1.    Why North Korea?

Since 1990 up to 3.5 million of are claimed to have died from the North Korea famine. Approx. 100,000 children die each year.

2.    Why balloons?

Transport via balloons is the only reliable and certain access of reaching to common people of North Korea. North Korea Peace leader, and defector Mr. Lee and other defectors had received flyers while living in North Korea.

Thwarted intention: Traditional methods of food aid and money are used for empowering military and government regime. South Korea alone provided $6 BN of aid to North Korea, however, Ministry of Reunification surveyed 600 people of 20,000 North Korean defectors, 95% claimed they have never received any food never seen monetary or food aid.

3.    Why socks?

-basic necessity especially in cold winters
-could be converted to cash in North Korea to buy food for 1 month
(1 pair of socks = 10,000 North Korean Won = 10 kg of corn = 30 days of food)

4.    What will the flyer say?

Dear This Flyer Finder,

The world has not forgotten the current hardships of our fellow brothers and sisters in North Korea. We pray for your survival until the day of reunification. We, from all countries love you.

5.    Our group?

Led by North Korean defector, and group of international volunteers who have commitment to take actions now to difference to lives of common people of North Koreans TODAY. Our group is non-political, non-religious and non-profit group.
