Malaria kills. Nets save lives. You can send a net and save a life.
Every 45 seconds, a child in Africa dies from malaria. That’s CRAZY -- nearly a million people dying every year from a preventable disease.
In the Central African Republic, one in five childhood deaths is caused by malaria. I’m working with the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets, PSI, and the UN to get mosquito nets to every family who needs one ASAP to help protect them from malaria. It will take 837,000 nets to cover the country -- that sounds like a lot, but we’re already more than half-way there.
Join me -- let’s get this done by the end of the year!
The UN has asked for help to get nets to these families, now. So, why wouldn’t we? It only costs $10 to purchase a long-lasting, insecticide-treated net, hand it to who needs it, and talk to them about how important it is, and how to use it properly.
It’s that easy to help. I just got back from the Central African Republic, and saw how badly malaria affects the families and communities I visited, and how much a mosquito net could help. Doesn’t everyone deserve to sleep safely?
