Orphanaid Africa
Our Mission
Support our mission by creating your own fundraiser.
OrphanAid Africa (OA) is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization based in a small village outside Accra, Ghana. OA fights for the rights of chldren by closing down orphanages with roots in child trafficking, child labor, neglect and abuse. Through programs in care reform, and in partnership with the government of Ghana, OA is keeping families together so that there are less orphaned and abandoned children.
Ninety percent of the orphans living in Ghana are not actually orphans, but their parents and extended family find it difficult to care for them becasue of the burden of poverty, disease and lack of social protection. The truth is, that poverty and ill health are not good reasons for separating children from their families. OrphanAid Africa sends social workers to meet with families and evaluates each case individually, ensuring that children receive the best care possible.
