As many of you know, Operation Smile is a very important part of my life. I worked for them after college - at which time I met my wife, Christy, who was volunteering for the organization. I have been on 10 medical trips with them, including a trip to Russia in summer 2001 with Christy. Primarily, Operation Smile provides free reconstructive surgery to children with facial deformities. As stated in their mission, they "mobilize a world of generous hearts to heal children's smiles and transform lives across the globe." Last summer, I finished my first sprint triathlon and loved it. This summer I wanted to combine this new passion with an old one - Operation Smile. I am training to complete 3 olympic length and 3 sprint triathlons this summer, starting with the Littlefoot Triathlon in Morrison, Colorado on May 15 (see below for the full schedule). I am asking my friends, family, and colleagues to consider making a series of modest donations (or single donation if easier) correlating to each event - maybe $5 for each sprint and $10 for each full, for example. Christy & I will match all contributions $1:$1, in hopes that with a lot of participation we will all generate a total of $20,000 for Operation Smile. That amount will bring life-changing surgery to 80 children.

I will provide donors with brief updates upon completion of each event. Your tax-deductible donations made via this site will go directly to Operation Smile and you will receive a receipt for your records. The website charges a small processing fee for offering this service. Donations may be made anonymously if you prefer.
