Orphan Support Africa
Our Mission
Support our mission by creating your own fundraiser. Orphan Support Africa works to restore the future of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. We partner with community-based organizations to create sustainable, self-run enterprises whose revenues provide these children with comprehensive care and the tools they need to become self-reliant adults.
How do we do this? What makes OUR approach so special???
Orphan Support Africa recognizes that the knowledge and power to bring sustainable change to the poorest parts of the world lies in the hands of the PEOPLE who occupy it. The mission of Orphan Support Africa is to EMPOWER communities in Africa through working WITH effective and sustainable community-based organizations that improve the well-being of orphans and vulnerable children, and nurture these children to become self-reliant adults.
OSA’s aim is to promote 100% local ownership and participation by the communities with whom we work, providing training for income-generating projects that foster resilience, self-reliance, and self-respect among the community members, as well as among the Orphans and Vulnerable Children for whom they care.
The logic is simple:
1) Trainings build awareness and skills
2) Skills build Income Generating Projects
3) Income Generating Projects earn revenue
4) Revenue pays for comprehensive and quality care for children in need, one community at a time
OSA is sustainability.
