More about us:

Palindrome Advisors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to change how leaders give back.  Palindrome links the nonprofit world with executive level leaders that give back through a number of programs, including but not limited to: serving on the board of a nonprofit (the Palindrome Pledge), mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs, engaging in volunteering programs and nonprofit-based salons, and dedicating time and resources to building tools specifically for nonprofit partners. Palindrome was founded in May 2010 and is headquartered in San Francisco, CA.

Palindrome's group of Founding Advisors that took the Palindrome Pledge in March 2011 to commit their time and energy to a nonprofit board in are elite forprofit leaders in every field and across the world.

From a Wall Street Journal article from our launch in 2011: "Palindrome’s group isn’t for the billionaires of the world; it’s for people who have executive and start-up experience and want to give back by donating expertise. 'There was no easy path for nonprofits to find experienced leaders to help them at a board management level,' Mr. Thet said in a statement. He explained that nonprofits need help marketing, developing growth plans and managing customer relationships, among other things. 'A board role is not just about fundraising.'...Palindrome has 100 executives signed up already — including Twitter’s president of global revenue, Adam Bain; Apple’s director of iPhone apps, Dag Kittlaus; and Ellen Siminoff, a founding executive and former senior vice president at Yahoo. The list of advisers is mostly from the tech world, but there are some outliers, including those in government, the energy business and even nightclubs."

Here's just a sample of the impact that nonprofits that Palindrome partners with have on our world:

  • Every 45 seconds a child in Africa dies from malaria (and it used to be every 20 seconds!), a disease spread by a single mosquito bite. There are more than 200 million cases of malaria each year, and nearly 1 million of those infected die from the disease — most of them children under the age of five. Thanks to the hard work of the Nothing But Nets / United Nations Foundation team, we've raised more than $35 million to distribute more than 4 million nets through UN partners, helping to achieve the global goal of ending malaria deaths by 2015 (http://www.unfoundation.org/what-we-do/campaigns-and-initiatives/nothing-but-nets/)
  • 90% of teen violence and pregnancy occurs between the hours of 3-6pm. After School All Stars works with 85,000 teens across the country from 3-6pm in 6th-8th grade middle schools. This are over 450 ASAS school sites in 12 different cities from NYC to Hawaii. (http://www.afterschoolallstars.org)
  • BORP athletes defy statistics. Over the past 10 years, 98% of BORP's youth alumni have graduated from high school. Over 80% have gone on to college. Over 70% are employed. These statistics are in sharp contrast with national data on disabled populations, and are particularly impressive given the fact that the majority of our participants come from low-income households and all have some sort of disability. (http://www.borp.org)
  • 285 million children and adults are vision-impaired due to uncorrected refractive error or eye diseases. Of these, nearly 39 million people are blind, with most of them living in the developing world. Helen Keller International is preventing blindness worldwide by bringing solutions to millions of vulnerable people. (http://www.hki.com)
  • Since 2006, GLOW has experienced rapid growth driven by the critical need for its services and scalable partnership model. By improving its partnership engagement model, GLOW quintupled the number of students it empowered: ~ 800 students in 2010/2011 versus 184 students in 2009/2010. Over five years, GLOW has trained more than 1,350 students, partnered with 20 community-based organizations and schools, and awarded 114 college scholarships totaling $312,000. Ninety- three percent of students improved financial literacy skills and knowledge with an average 42% improvement on pre versus post assessment tests. Forty-seven students enrolled in 1:2 matched savings accounts for their college education with GLOW’s partner organization--Opportunity Fund-- with a total impact (saved and matched savings) of ~$64,500.
