Help us stop Shark Finning!

Project AWARE Foundation is a growing movement of scuba divers protecting the ocean planet – one dive at a time.

Over the past two decades of underwater conservation we’ve learned that divers are true leaders in ocean protection. We’re ocean heroes numbering in the millions across the globe. We believe together our actions will make a huge impact and will help to rescue the ocean.

With new programs and more online resources than ever before, Project AWARE supports an unprecedented global movement of divers acting in their own communities to protect oceans and implement lasting change.

All funds raised will help Project AWARE: *Fight to stop shark finning. *Insist on full protections for critically endangered sharks. *Negotiate stronger policies to ensure a brighter future for all.

Patriot Scuba swimming to end shark finning for Project AWARE’s first Global Finathon™.

Our distance total is 30 miles, which is equivalent to the distance from the Patriot Scuba store to our nearest dive site, the Rappahannock Quarry! Roughly speaking it is 200 laps in a 25 meter pool. Our swimming team members are welcome to swim as little or as many laps as they would like. To continue with a fin theme, we are offering our swimmers the choice of completing these laps with their mask, fins, and snorkels!

We will be hosting our main swim Sunday, November 11th 10 AM- 1 PM at George Washington Recreation Center. Located at: 8426 Old Mt. Vernon Rd. Alexandria, VA 22309.

We are looking to raise $300 USD, which is an estimated cost of shark fin meat per pound.

*Donations: Please feel free to make donations in the form of a flat amount or a variable quanity based on individual/team laps*

*We will also accept donations via cash and check*
