It's Elaine's (one of our 9th grade students) birthday this weekend- can you help spread the joy of cake and birthday bliss?!?

$20 provides one of our VERY deserving student's their first ever birthday celebration! If you help spread the joy, we promise to send pictures of the memories you helped create as well! :)

Well its over ..... aaargh FIN…
Well its over ..... aaargh FINALLY! The Kenyans managed to escape for another year - but they gave them a 1 hour start on me - really is that fair?? It was a furnace out there - well over 2000 runners from a 22000 field ended up in the medical tents (it was my day off so I thought I'd stay away from medical facilities, or else I would have too!) I went out fast but it was just too hot to run and so like many of the runners slowed to a walk-jog to cover the distance. But the MGH team raised over $ 1/2 million... and my legs have begun to unstiffen enough to allow my short term memory loss to kick in and think about next year....not..... well maybe in about 11 months time anyway...!

I've posted some pics of the race on the site for you to see.

Last year to the day April 16th was when Natalie Cohen began her ultramarathon of surgeries - she's back home after a grueling trip, completely cured. Well done Natalie!!

Thanks for all the support - I literally could not have done this without you.

Well only hours to go to the start of the marathon. My family just came back from the MGH pre-race dinner where the patients who are paired with runners are mentioned. It is very moving to see up close what this fundraising is all about - the families and children who go though the ordeal of childhood cancer. Very motivating and very humbling to see the tremendous strength and endurance of these special people.

I'm running specifically as a tribute to Natalie Cohen - a young girl from Cape Town who was one of my patients last year. She overcame an incredible challenge of a massive bone tumor in her chest, requiring multiple major operations that had never been performed previously. You can see her story at:

http://www.nataliescircleoflove.org/follow-natalies-journey/2012/04/15/dr-paul/

My bib number is 25446 - you can track my progress every 5 km on line, by email or text. I expect to start at 11 am EST, and take about 4 hours. The website is http://www.baa.org/ - register on the day. Watch your investment in action LIVE! (I'll be right behind the Kenyans....)

Thanks so much for making this happen!! I really appreciate the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon - thanks for giving me the experience, and for helping these fantastic families. Running 42.2 K is not too tough - raising $5K is much more challenging. I will do the jogging but you have done the harder and more productive part - raising the money for a great cause.

Well, it is the day before the marathon, and I am so excited! I just want to thank everyone for helping me to raise money for pediatric palliative care. Together our team of 4 has raised over 26,000 for this important cause, and that is all because of you wonderful people who were kind enough to donate and to offer words of encouragement!
My bib number is 23850 as some of you have said you would like to follow my progress on the BAA website tomorrow (I'm told it is easy to use) I will do my best to not melt in the 90 degree heat and to finish the 26.2 miles!
Thanks again!
