Pet Network Humane Society (formerly Pet Network of North Lake Tahoe) is a non-profit animal rescue organization whose mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of healthy and adoptable animals through rescue, rehabilitation and education.  

We transfer animals in danger of euthanasia from animal control facilities across Nevada and California.  These animals are provided extensive medical attention from our staff veterinarian, Dr. Kim Barnes, and are provided outstanding care and attention by our dedicated staff and volunteers until they are adopted, no matter how long it takes.

Pet Network Humane Society is one of the only shelters to provide long-term care for pregnant and nursing moms.  We have special maternity kennels and rooms set aside for these high-risk animals.  We save hundreds of nursing puppies & kittens each year and provide specialized care until they are old enough to find their forever homes.  

Our rescue and rehabilitation efforts have been a cornerstone of the community for more than 20 years and we are quickly closing in on 10,000 lives saved!  

Pet Network Humane Society receives no government or public funding for our life-saving work and we depend on the generous contributions of our community to sustain our rescue and rehabilitation efforts.  

In order to increase the number of animals we save annually Pet Network has established several self-funding strategies including: 

• The opening of our full-service pet store, Incline Canine
• The addition of Pet Network Veterinary Services to our family (775-833-2020)
• The addition of Pet Network Grooming Services
• The addition of Boarding, Daycare, In-Home Care & Dog Walking Services

These services create a one stop shop for all things pet related in our community, while making sure that our organization raises the much-needed funds to sustain our operations.

In addition to saving the lives of animals in need, Pet Network Humane Society collaborates with many other organizations to support the community, including:

• Donating pet food to Project MANA, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families who cannot afford to purchase food for their family
• Providing education to the volunteers of Tahoe Women's Services, related to the correlation between domestic violence and animal abuse
• Providing free or low-cost boarding for the pets of women who are in transitional housing after fleeing from domestic violence.
• Providing free humane education to children in local schools

Each of these services, including our adoption of animals, is only possible through the generous support we receive from caring individuals and local business owners.
