For the first time, Departures magazine, exclusively published for Platinum Card® and Centurion® members of American Express, has partnered with fundraising platform, Crowdrise, to give away its own copy of the 2011 Pirelli Calendar to benefit the United Nations Foundation’s Nothing But Nets, a global, grassroots campaign to raise awareness and funding to combat malaria.
Since its debut in 1964, the renowned Pirelli Calendar, which is best known of its exclusive photographs of some of the world's most beautiful models and actresses -- Julianne Moore, Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss, Penelope Cruz -- is distributed only to a select few worldwide.
Departures is making one of these lavish collector items -- the 2011 calendar, “Mythology,” photographed by Karl Lagerfeld -- available to fashion and philanthropic enthusiasts alike.
The 2011 Calendar -- “Mythology” reflects one of Lagerfeld’s deepest passions -- Greek and Roman mythology. The 36 black and white photos that make up the calendar show 24 different subjects, including gods, heroes and myths.
