We are raising awareness for visual impairment by undertaking a world recording setting trip to the South Pole.
One of our members, Alan Lock, lost his eyesight almost overnight to a condition known as 'macular degeneration,' Refusing to give up the outdoor active lifestyle he loved so much, Alan completed the 151 mile Marathon du Sables and later set a world record by being the first visually impaired person to row across the Atlantic Ocean.
In November of 2011 Alan hopes to ski 600 miles to the South Pole to raise awareness for two charities- San Rafael, CA based Guide Dogs for the Blind and Sightsavers International.
