Vote for! Merry Christmas! I'm already getting a valentine's fundraiser going. I want to train for a 5k, so I am raising funds for motivation (figured running on Valentine's day would kept my mind off of being single!) Its for GEMS which is an organization that reaches out to sexually exploited girls. If you would check it out on my page I'd appreciate it! Plus valentines day is twp days before my birthday, so that's one way to celebrate!

Happy August! A vote for you :)

Every year, thousands of kids start school with no books in the classroom, poor school libraries, and no books of their own. Reader to Reader gives out hundreds of thousands of books to under-resourced schools, libraries and children, but the need is especially strong at the start of the school year. They need YOUR help to get books into the hands of children who truly need the power of reading in their lives.

Please consider giving what you can to this important cause. If you can't give now, join the team and spread the word!
Thank you,
Kat

June vote for you!

The summer is here, and school is out! But even though students are enjoying the sun, we're still working hard to bring resources to low-income schools, libraries, and communities. Reader to Reader's work doesn't stop with the school year, and becomes even more important. More than half of the achievement gap between lower- and higher-income youth comes from unequal access to summer learning opportunities. Low-income kids can lose up to two months of reading ability over the summer, while middle-class children make slight gains. Now more than ever it is essential that books are available to low-income children. Help us make this possible with your support today.

Thank you,
Kat

A spring vote for you!

With all the headlines screaming disaster and heartache, it's easy to get disheartened. Reader to Reader has supported schools damaged by tornadoes, public libraries devastated by flooding, and communities deeply affected by local tragedy. But each day we see examples of how much good is out there. That goodness is not always in the headlines. Sometimes, it's tucked quietly away, but it's there, and is the very reason we do this work--to bring books and other resources to the next generation that so richly deserves them.

Reader to Reader needs your help to get books in the hands of children across the country. Will you donate or join our team? Your support makes a difference!

Thanks,
Kat
