1.8 million of our neighbors are living in poverty in New York City.
1.5 million New Yorkers rely on emergency food to survive.
60% of the babies born in New York City are born into poverty.
20,000 children in NYC sleep in a homeless shelter every night.
How we’re fighting poverty in NYC.
Robin Hood is the largest independent poverty-fighter in NYC and one of the most innovative.
We've taken a new approach to defeat an age-old problem. Our method of using market principles to foster the most effective social change has been called “venture philanthropy.” We’ll accept the name, but what we won’t accept is the status quo. There are presently 1.8 million New Yorkers living in poverty. We are determined to upset that status quo.
In 2012, we were fortunate enough to be able to touch the lives of hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers...which is pretty amazing. But unfortunately, there were over one million of our neighbors in need who we weren’t able to help.
Please help us help our neighbors in need.
$1.20 provides a meal for a hungry New Yorkers
$50 gives a low-income worker free tax preparation—and an average return of $2,000.
$75 provides shelter for one night for one person.
