Rosie's Theater Kids
Our Mission
Support our mission by creating your own fundraiser.
In Manhattan, thousands of children live near the "Great White Way," but never have the opportunity to step inside one of the theaters and experience Broadway. As Rosie says, it's "like living in Hawaii and not having access to the beach."
Today, New York City public schools rely largely on private funding for arts education, continuing to struggle due to a constant shortage of public funding. This is where Rosie's Theater Kids comes in.
Rosie's Theater Kids was inspired by Rosie O'Donnell's lifelong concern for children, love of theater, and dream of teaching. In 2003, thanks to the generosity of Rosie O'Donnell and Kelli Carpenter, Artistic and Executive Director Lori Klinger created RTKids, dedicated to providing quality instruction in music and dance at no cost to New York City public schools or students.
Who We Serve:
Over 80% of students who participate in Rosie's Theater Kids are from low-income families. The organization serves more than 5,100 teachers, students, and their family members at 17 schools. All services are provided at no cost and enable public schools and their students to receive high-quality arts education.
To continue our mission of enriching the lives of children, we need your support.
The New York City public school system relies largely on the private sector to provide arts education. With childhood obesity on the rise, our combination of arts education and physical movement fills a unique niche.
Help us bring music, motion, and a greater love for learning into a child's life. Help us look forward to an expanded program. Broadened horizons. Changed lives.
