HERE'S THE STORY:
When you support Free Arts NYC, you are supporting more than “just art”, you are helping kids across NYC connect with positive mentors dedicated to inspiring them to succeed. Our mission is to provide under-served children and families with a unique combination of educational arts and mentoring programs that help them foster the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential.
Over the last 12 years, Free Arts NYC has helped more than 25,000 at-risk children and families re-imagine their worlds and transform their lives through the creative arts. We partner with over 30 social service agencies, including schools, community centers, and shelters. With a dedicated staff of arts educators, social workers, and artists, as well as a large team of 1,000+ trained community volunteers, we deliver five core programs to underserved children and families: the Weekly Mentor Program, the Parents and Children Together with Art (PACT) program; Free Arts Day festivals; Cultural Enrichment opportunities; and a Summer Arts Camp.
Our Track Record of Success
• Free Arts has a proven model: Over the last 12 years, Free Arts NYC has helped more than 25,000 at-risk New York City children and families.
• Free Arts bolsters self-esteem: By the end of the 2009-10 year, 80% of children demonstrated confidence and self-esteem, representing a 16% gain from the start of the year.
• Free Arts promotes creative thinking: 90% of children learned to successfully incorporate their own ideas and experiences into art-making.
Help us reach our ING Marathon goal of $135,000 to support Free Arts NYC!
Your support will help us to deliver programs to over 1,500 children and families this year, including training our community-based volunteers, purchasing art supplies, and developing our innovative curriculum.
