Runaway Bridesmaids has teamed up wtih Village Volunteers to raise money for their partner, New Light, an organization that provides shelter to the children of sex workers in India's largest red light district to give girls hope.

The Runaway Bridesmaids will be wearing dresses and running the ING New York City Marathon on November 4, 2012 (that's 26.2 miles!). Every dollar you donate gets us closer to our goal of building a shelter for the victims of sex trafficking and their children to help break the cycle of modern-day slavery. Holly C. Corbett

Holly is part of a trio of female travel writers and best buds known as The Lost Girls (LostGirlsWorld.com). One of her most life-changing trip experiences happened while volunteering with girls at a school in Kenya through Village Volunteers. She wanted to help girls in need have a shot at an education and other opportunities that Holly was fortunate enough to have simply due to chance and geography. So she decided to marry her love of running with fundraising for women's causes, and Runaway Bridesmaids was born.

Nancy Yeomans

Nancy has run a total of 24 marathons, including one on all 7 continents, but has never run one in a bridesmaid's dress. To her, running and weddings seem a perfect match - on their first date she asked her now-husband to join her on a little run she had planned - the Antarctica marathon. Their honeymoon was the Athens marathon while wearing t-shirts with ‘bride’ and ‘groom’ printed on the front in Greek. The honeymoon is over; he’ll be content to watch from the sidelines as she runs this one in a dress.

Sera Snyder

Sera is a passionate runner, leader and desmoid survivor. Diagnosed in 2008 with an abdominal desmoid tumor, a rare benign, but aggressive tumor, Sera underwent two surgeries and embarked on a healing journey that has changed her life and taught her the joy and value of giving back. Fueled to help raise money to find a cure for this rare disease, and with the help of an amazing community, Sera started Running for Answers (RFA), a race to raise money and awareness for Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation (DTRF).
