THE STORY:
My goal is to complete the 2011 San Francisco Marathon on July 31st! While signing up for the race, it came to my attention that in the process of achieving my personal fitness dream, I could also help contribute to the fundraising needs of organizations near where I will be running my race. Of the list of charities, I chose a fantastic local organization, called Lifehouse that supports people with disabilities in the community.
The mission of Lifehouse is to improve their clients’ quality of life by providing a lifetime of compassionate support in an atmosphere of respect, inspiration and purpose.
Lifehouse provides support for 300 clients that live in group homes, and training for staff working in the homes. Their various programs help to facilitate independence and general quality of life for the residents.
I feel they provide a very important service for the community, and would love to raise some funds during my time spent training for the race!
