HERE'S THE STORY:
On 10 July 2010, my life changed forever. That's the day my wife and I brought home our beautiful daughter. Having the opportunity to spend a week in the country in which she was born showed me that there is a big need in that country to help families. For the last two years, I have run the New York City marathon and raised money for a local charity which does great work in New York. Now, however, I have found a cause that is close to my heart. I'm running the marathon this year in support of Wide Horizons for Children, specifically their Child Sponsorship Program in Ethiopia.
FIVE MILLION children in Ethiopia are orphans, and only 3,000 children per year are adopted. WHFC Sponsorship makes it possible for many of these children to remain with relatives within their communities and native country while becoming educated healthy people.
$35 per month provides children, their families and their communities with the basic needs of food, shelter, education, and healthcare. An economist works with the families to help them begin a small business with the plan to become financially independent within 3-5 years.
My goal is to raise enough money to support two children and their families for a year. I have seen the work that this agency does and I can assure you that your donation will go towards a worthy cause. Please give what you can.
