THE STORY:

On October 2nd - World Farm Animals Day - I will be running 26.2 miles at the Smuttynose Rockfest & Marathon in beautiful Portsmouth, NH to help support the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary (WFAS).
Nestled in the idyllic Catskill mountains, WFAS provides rehab and shelter for farm animals rescued from abuse, neglect and abandonment. I've been volunteering at WFAS since 2005, witnessing first-hand how the extremely dedicated staff have transformed the lives of hundreds of animals. A few examples of their heroic feats: rescuing Dylan from a life confined in a crate to produce veal; constructing a prosthetic leg for Albie the goat, who lost his leg from an injury he most likely suffered when hogtied during transport to slaughter; and creating new kicks for Flipper, a rooster who suffered severe injuries to his toes in a cruel kapparot ritual in Brooklyn.
The directors, limited staff and amazing group of volunteers at WFAS are some of the most devoted, compassionate and inspiring people you will ever find. Running 26 miles feels like a cinch compared to the day-to-day work of the WFAS crew. I'm humbled and honored to run for such an important organization…and, of course, I'm looking forward to the craft beer party at the finish line!
Please help me in supporting the important work of this extraordinary sanctuary by donating on my Crowdrise fundraising page. To help me reach my goal of $2,620, please consider donating at least $1 for each mile I run.
On behalf of the hundreds of animals you will be helping, thank you very much for your support!
