Spondylitis Association of America supports scientific research for Ankylosing Spondylitis, an arthritic condition that affects mainly the lower or entire spine of the individuals although can be manifested in other joints. The group also provides patient support through its sponsorship of patient support groups and educational programs nation-wide. Research in Spondylitis sometimes has similar applications for other autoimmune type arthritis such as Rheumtoid Arthritis and/or Psoriasis. The condition affects less than 0.1 precent of the population.
