Children who love to learn inspire us all. Sakila Schools in Tanzania have 700 eager students, 30 brand new computers & NO POWER. All we need is a Solar System & we can connect these students to the world and the possibility of new futures for themselves, their families & the planet.
Imagine if your child or grandchild was getting straight “A”s in math, science and grammar but had no textbooks to study from, no library to visit and no access to internet research.
Imagine if that child was graduating from high school with high academic scores and had absolute no computer skills.
Imagine if you had a computer lab with over 30 computers, student who were so eager to learn and NO POWER.
That is exactly what we have at Sakila Schools. 700 focused students, a great new lab building, 30 new computers and desks and THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN USED! (ugh)
Why - because power in rural Tanzania is so expensive and completely unreliable. (For more details read “Our Story” below)
Join us, have some fun and help us raise $6,700 for a Solar System that will help us Power Up the Sakila Schools and empower over 700 students and a dozen teachers!
Seriously can you imagine that your little donation of $20 and sharing this with a few friends could make such a huge difference to so many kids!!! (You have to love crowdfunding.)
Here is our story:
In impoverished, under-served rural Tanzania, Sakila Schools are changing lives, giving children hope and a chance for a better life through quality education and practical material aid to students, families and the surrounding villages.
Under the direction of Bishop Eliudi Issangya and with the help of the Sakila Sponsorship group and a small, determined group of supporters the Sakila Schools have grown to over 720 delightful, students in just 10 years.
For the first time these students have new hopes and new dreams. In addition, they are acquiring the skills to create new futures for themselves and their community.
The Sakila Schools have recently received full accreditation for their secondary school, started a bordering school to accommodate children from other areas and secured property that ensures the expansion of the High School.
Here is our dilemma!
A couple of years ago a Wyoming School District raised funds to supply over 30 computers and desks. A generous donor provided funds to build the Computer Lab.
BUT the power in rural Tanzania is erratic and unreliable so the COMPUTER LAB REMAINS UNUSED.
Here is your opportunity!
Help us Power Up, brighten up and connect the staff and students of Sakila to the world.
We are raising $6,700 to help us purchase and install the basic solar system equipment to "Power Up" the lab.
Every $750 over our goal will allow us to expand the system and bring one additional computer station on-line.
Should excess funds be raised (Yippee!) they will go toward expanding the high school or some high priority school need.
You can make an impact – Click the DONATE button above. All donations are tax-deductible.
Or make an off-line donation by sending a check to Sakila Sponsorship and writing "Power Up" in the memo line. Sakila Sponsorship, 6410 Gleneagle Avenue SW, Port Orchard, WA 98367.
Buy “Sakila’s Song” http://www.itunes.com/the2020/sakila’ssongand 50% will go to the Sakila Power Up Campaign.
