Well hello there and thanks for checking out my profile :-)
It is true .... I am running a marathon and what you should know about me is that I've really never been much of a runner - seriously! So far the longest race I have done is 6 miles SOOOO to increase that to 26 miles is a MASSIVE challenge for me. My legs hurt and my feet hurt but I am keeping up the training for TWO big reasons. Firstly I am 100% committed to the charity I am raising money for - who do an amazing job for children and young people. Secondly I never ever thought that I could do something like this, especially as I have diabetes and any kind of exercise makes it do strange things. Now I know that, with a lot of hard work (checking blood sugars and balancing food and insulin) and motivation, its possible - just as long as my legs don't let me down.
WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
There are so many reasons you should donate to my projects - the biggest one being it is for a GREAT Cause.
I am raising money for 'The Barton Centre For Diabetes Education' - which could quite possibly be one of the best places in the world. It offers children and young people living with type 1 diabetes, from all over the world, the opportunity to meet others also living with diabetes and gives them the tools to live long, happy and healthy lives. Most importantly it builds confidence and self-esteem and lets each child know that, if they can care for themselves in the best possible way (even though it is tough some times), they can do anything they dreamed of. How amazing is that!!
From a first hand experience I know that living with diabetes is not easy - there are highs and lows (literally). The Barton Centre was a life changing experience for me and with out it I really don't think I would have the confidence to try running a marathon.
