CERES CHARITABLE FOUNDATION wrote -
It costs $5 to provide health care for each child under 5 years old in Ileret, Northern Kenya, through the Turkana Basin Institute (TBI) mobile clinic. The mobile clinic travels over 18,000 Km per year, and treats an average of 55 children per week!!
Since the Ceres Charitable Foundation will MATCH every dollar raised this year... This means a $35 donation will save NOT 7, BUT 14 CHILDREN PER DAY!!
Your donation will cover the costs of a nurse, drugs, immunizations, fuel, food, water, education sessions for the parents, and maintenance costs for the mobile van.

About the Mobile Clinic

Ileret is one of the most remote and neglected regions in Kenya. It lies almost 500 km from the nearest district hospital, has13,000 people being served by one nurse, while locals have to walk up to 20km to get to the only dispensary in the area!!
Through the mobile clinic, a driver, nurse and Community Health Worker visit the remote communities three days per week to provide needed preventive and curative services, with a primary focus on children under 5 years of age and pregnant women. Services provided include:
• Prenatal care for expectant mothers
• Immunizations for infants and children
• Drugs and treatment to combat malaria, diarrhea, and other diseases.
• Community health education on nutrition, communicable diseases, Reproductive Health, hygiene, and other health promotion topics.
