THE STORY:

I have lived in Japan for 15 years and love the country and its people.  We are in a tough situation now and the people suffering here really need your help.  It is cold and food/water is a challenge.

I was in Tokyo on Friday in the subway when the earthquake hit.  At the station before I told a little 1st grader to not bounce his ball on the platform as it dangerous.  I am still thinking about that boy and how he must have been so scared.  He was not on my train, but I hope someone helped him get home that night as all the trains stopped running.

Tohoku, where the earthquake and tsunami hit, is one of the most beautiful places in Japan. The people are extremely friendly and it is like large hometown.  With your help today we can help save lives and help these children and their families through Save The Children Federation.

f I can get back to LA in time, I hope to run on Sunday.  Japan is a great country for runners and I must have run 1000 miles around the Palace in Tokyo. One way or another, all of us in Japan would appreciate any amounts you can donate to this great charity.  It is one of the best run charities (rated 4*).

Save the Children has launched an appeal for $1 million to do the following:

  • Deliver psychosocial support to help overcome the shock and stress that the disaster and devastation has caused
  • Set up child friendly spaces to provide a protective environment where children can spend time with other children and trained teachers. This service also allows parents much needed time that they can dedicate to investigating food sources, work, accommodation and locating other friends and family
  • Monitor the nuclear power plant and prepare contingency plans for any future changes

With your donation and support to this emergency fund you are helping so many through their time of catastrophy. Children and their families are now living a life of despair with the loss of the loved ones, loss of their homes and buisness, flooding and in constant fair of afterquakes and the brutal force of the tsunami wave. Together we can make a hope for them. Together we can mobilize donations.

Donate now to the Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund to support Save the Children's relief efforts and responses to children's ongoing and urgent needs.
