Ramana’s Garden India was founded by a dedicated and forceful American woman, Prabhavati Dwabha, 18 years ago as a result of her spiritual practice on the banks of the River Ganga. Prabhavati’s heart overflowed with compassion for the numerous homeless, destitute, and abused children she met there, and she decided to make those children her life’s work. On a shoestring budget, she has for years provided a growing number of children with education, nourishment, and a future where they had little or no hope. Through her guidance and perseverance, Ramana’s Garden India has also instituted programs to educate local villages in practices of proper sanitation, safe drinking water, general health care, as well as support for the advancement of Indian women through vocational skills.

It costs only a dollar a day to fund a child to go to school, eat, be clothed and safe for a year.

These are children who are in terrible danger of being sold into slavery or prostitution and have no other option. Every child who comes to Ramana's Garden is an outcast when they arrive and every one leaves with perfect english and endless possibilities.

$365 dollars a year can sponsor an orphan.

Please sponsor a kid. Please come to India and visit that child. Please gather 10 of your friends together and ask them for 36 dollars.

On Memorial Day I'll be running in the 33rd annual BolderBoulder 10K road race for OrphanAid Africa (OA). Based in Ghana, OA helps families of children at risk of abandonment and gives them secure futures within their communities.

In 2008, I had the privilege of traveling to Ghana with my husband, Ryan, and worked directly with the children at OA's Foster Family Community in Ayenyah, an impoverished village where OA is headquartered. I also had the opportunity to work with the founder, Lisa Lovatt-Smith and learned first-hand why OA is unique. The NGO transforms systems by promoting the rights of the 4,000 orphans and vulnerable children currently under the care of institutions through family tracing and re-unification and foster care.

For the last 2 years, I had served as a permanent volunteer for OA and am now more heavily involved, working as the NGO's USA Manager. Please support my cause, as you can trust me that your money is going to a fantastic organization for the direct benefit of the children.

Community Water Solutions is a non-profit organization that partners with rural communities in developing countries to establish sustainable water treatment businesses in Ghana, Africa.

We will be traveling to Ghana this summer to implement a sustainable water treatment project in Tamale, Ghana. Last year, I completed the running leg of the “Team Burgess” relay team that helped raised $800 for Oceana. This year, I may not be challenging for the winner’s podium at the Nautica South Beach Triathlon, but I am challenging myself to complete the entire race solo and raise $3,000 for Oceana! As you know, I am passionate about protecting and repairing our most precious commodity – Mother Ocean. My favorite moments are spent watching the sunrise over the ocean to welcome a new day, scuba diving among breath-taking sea life, paddleboarding with my pug and sailing on the bay by my home in Miami, or simply closing my eyes to smell the sea and feel the ocean breeze on my face. So, I am very proud of the work I do both personally and on behalf of Burgess to raise awareness and enable contributions that help make a difference in Oceana’s campaigns (like permanently ending destructive trawling in the Belize Barrier Reef- where this photo was taken!). Let’s help Oceana’s tremendous efforts to give our children the healthiest Ocean possible, along with the education on how to maintain and improve upon this for future generations!

Esther has a strong will that is encompassed in sadness. She is from a single mother with 5 older brothers, and a younger sister. Esther was fortunate to attend a primary school for needy children that gave her a solid educational background and of all the new Form 1 students, she scored the second highest on her 8th grade examination. Although Esther had a great education, she was pressured and abused by the headmaster of the school.

Esther has overcome a great deal. To see her at Daraja Academy, she is smiling and there is hope in her eyes. Because of the many good people supporting her, Ether has learned to communicate her needs to others, and to take care of herself. Esther has found people who love her and support her, and she has embraced this new family from the beginning despite the hurt she has had the past.

Global Water Crisis Today, 1 in 6 people around the world lack access to safe drinking water. Four million people die each year from preventable water-�‐related diseases, and 90% of those deaths are children under five. In northern Ghana, 20% of children under five suffer from diarrheal disease due largely to lack of access to safe water.

Community Water Solutions (CWS) is a not-�‐for-�‐profit social enterprise that partners with rural communities in developing countries to establish sustainable water treatment businesses. These businesses are owned and operated by the communities that they serve, and use simple, affordable technologies to enable the treatment, distribution and storage of clean, safe drinking water. The maintenance and operation of these water treatment businesses is funded by revenue from the sale of drinking water, while the capital necessary to establish them is generated from CWS fundraising activities.

CWS piloted their model for drinking water treatment in June of 2008 in the village of Kasaligu in Northern Region Ghana. The following fall CWS officially established its organization as a non-�‐for-�‐profit corporation and was granted 501(c)(3) status in April, 2009 (meaning all donations are tax deductable!). To date, CWS has successfully implemented its water treatment businesses in five communities in Ghana, providing a reliable source of clean water to over 11,000 people!

OHEL Children's Home and Family services mission is to protect and strengthen individuals and families by meeting the diverse social needs of the community through excellent programs.
Some programs include helping families cope in times of crisis, providing foster care for children in New York City, the domestic violence counseling and housing program, and counseling for victims of sexual abuse.

I wash dishes part time to raise money for charity. I use my earnings to donate among my various projects as presents to my friends and colleagues. It's a crappy, dirty, messy job.
