Normal In Schools' Fundraiser:
Self Esteem Stomp
Normal In Schools
EVENT DATE: Oct 24, 2010
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Nov 30, 2010
HERE'S THE STORY:
NORMAL In Schools is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate about eating disorders, body image, self esteem, family communication and wellness using arts-related programming.
For the five years that NIS has been serving communities in at risk, public and private schools, we have reached more than 10,000 individuals and have inspired people to seek treatment.
NIS has many programs -- one of which is the Self Esteem Stomp.
The first annual Self Esteem Stomp is an incredible way to educate about self esteem, healthy body image and family communication. It begins with a fun 5k walk for everyone. Along the route folks will read signs and banners promoting healthy self-esteem. The event ends with an interactive area with activities such as art, music, dance, yoga, climbing walls and more.
The Self Esteem Stomp is a great way to encourage peer mentoring and leadership between high school students and grade school kids and between parents and kids. We know that the ONLY proven programs that have any kind of efficacy in preventing the onset of eating disorders, self-harm, bullying, etc. are those that are geared toward healthy body-esteem and self-esteem.
Proceeds from the Self Esteem Stomp will benefit the NORMAL In Schools national nonprofit and its mission of educating about eating disorders, self esteem, body image and family communication. Our current project is to film the online version of our award winning program in New York City. To Learn more, visit us at http://www.normal-life.org/Online_Film.html
