Okay, here's the scoop: I am going to run a marathon in San Francisco on July 31, 2011, and then complete a triathlon in New York City seven days later on August 7, 2011, to raise $5,810 for Malaria No More. Are you with me?
I don't do many things well, but I can run. Okay, not fast, but I can move forward. So I've decided to complete the San Francisco Marathon on July 31, 2011, and the NYC Triathlon on August 7, 2011 to raise $5,810 for Malaria No More. That's $100 for every mile I'll run, swim, or bike, and equal to 581 nets. I added the triathlon for your enjoyment. You see I can barely ride a bike, and can only dogie paddle. Fun!
Malaria kills an African child every 45 seconds, and 90% of malaria cases occur in Africa. Seriously, have you heard of anything worse? But, malaria is preventable with a long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets. $10 provides a family a bed net – including the purchase, distribution and education as well as monitoring and evaluation. I'm raising money for these bed nets, and I hope you'll help me.
