In Nairobi on my way to Rwanda for a few days and then down to MWCT headquarters in the Chyulu Hills. Please check out the new project we are working on to build a boma for handicapped people in the Maasai community.
Other CR projects.
We went to visit Ramana's Garden which is an orphanage I have been supporting for a while and I was beyond impressed. This is a magical space that I hope everyone of you will have a chance to visit. This woman Prabu runs the place and she is like a mother to 60 children and then she opens her place up every day for 189 other students. The whole place is organic and so impressive. They grow their own food and have cows and employ 14 teachers. It costs $365 a year for these kids to be clothed, fed and schooled for a year.
Also something that has been dear to my heart recently is George Jackson Academy. I want to quit everything I do and go be a teacher there. It's a school in the east village that also runs entirely on donations. I found out about it through my New York dentist because he sits on the board. I told him I would help out but I had no idea I would love it over there so much. This is a school that takes boys of color from all the 5 boroughs of NY who are not being served by the school in their communities. So, boys who are extremely gifted and boys who just are not responding to the regular teaching methods in their public school. Kids commute as much as 2 hrs a day in slacks and ties to get this education and they are extremely grateful to be there. I love this school. It costs $15,000 a year for each student & it is run entirely on donations.
These are 2 projects I care very much about and would love to invite you to participate in helping me raise funds.
Whatever you can give is immensely appreciated.
Thanks

May the Votes be ever in your favor :)
If you're in the neighborhood to bring PURE JOY to a very deserving child's life... A $20 donation will provide a birthday celebration and cake for one of our 25 students- an experience they have NEVER HAD in their life. Can you imagine never getting to celebrate your special day and not ever eating a piece of cake in your entire life? Well, either can us, so we want to change that for our extremely hard working students!
Donate $20 to provide the once in a lifetime memory for one of our students, and we'll provide you a picture of the event- something you can cherish forever as well :)
Cheers and Happy Crowdrising,
Megan + Imagine Scholar Team
