Big news at Top of the Rock Wildlife Sanctuary in mid-September. Two new tigers, needing a lifetime home, were brought in.
I just added a video, on the Top Of The Rock fundraiser page, (click thumbnail on my profile) of one of the tiger's first day in the big playground. It's cute :)
Here's an October friend vote. ^5

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome." ~Anne Bradstreet

As we continue through the hurricane season here on the east coast of the United States, we have been given a small taste of adversity. I work in a hotel, filled to capacity for several days in a row, following Irene, by people who were without clean water and/or electricity, those with damaged homes, or by those service people coming into the area to help clean up the mess, and restore us to our 'normal way of life'. My involvement here on Crowdrise, however, makes me aware that all of this past week is little more than a reminder of what a large part of Earth's inhabitants go through on a daily basis. Victims such as those of the earthquakes in Haiti and Japan, the tsunami, mass flooding, and the tornadoes that ripped though the Continental US's mid-west will require months, if not years, of recover. And the vast majority have no hotel where they can spend that recovery period.

Don't underestimate even the most modest of involvement here on this site...A September vote for you and your heroic efforts...

Happy August! The word 'august' has many meanings as an adjective, including: noble, great, kingly, grand, excellent, imposing, impressive, superb, distinguished, magnificent, glorious, splendid, elevated, eminent, majestic, dignified, regal, stately, high-ranking, monumental, solemn, lofty, exalted...!

A vote for you, and for your 'august' efforts here on Crowdrise!

“Freedom in general may be defined as the absence of obstacles to the realization of desires” ~Bertrand Russell

July is the month for celebrating freedom in many countries, including Burundi & Rwanda (July 1st), Abkhazia, a.k.a. Georgia, & the United States (July 4th), Algeria, Cape Verde & Venezuela (July 5th), Malawi (July 6th), Solomon Islands (July 7th), Argentina (July 9th), the Bahamas (July 10th), São Tomé and Príncipe (July 12th), Slovakia (July 17th), Laos (July 19th), Belgium (July 21st), Liberia & Maldives (July 26th), Peru (July 28th), Vanuatu (July 30th)...

During this time where some of us celebrate our freedom, it would do us well in spirit to remember to act for those who can not act for themselves; those hindered by a lack of freedom and independence, due to medical illness, political or economic strife, or the bonds of slavery, abuse or torture. We have the freedom to make a difference in the lives of others....A July vote for you for being here to make that difference...

Hello Eden, how are you doing …
Hello Eden, how are you doing today? I must say you are doing amazing things with fundraising for your crowdriseprojects, keep up the good work :)

I was wondering if you would like to join my fundraiser for The Trevor Project : http://www.crowdrise.com/fundraiserelise/fundraiser/elisemariemyrvangeik this fundraiser was my very first fundraiser on Crowdrise and it means alot to me personally. There are so many teenagers that are struggeling daily with being discriminated for who they are, just because of who they love. This is not right and we need to show the world that equal rights counts for all no matter who we are or what we do in life. No one has the right to judge others. The Trevor Project is the only helpline through telephone for gay teens in all of USA!! and so therefore this is a very important organisasation to support. You can take a look at Trevor Project's homesite here: http://www.thetrevorproject.org/

Daniel Radcliffe (also known as the main role in Harry Potter) is one of the main spokesperson for The Trevor Project, here you can read more about what he has to say about this very important organisasation for teens all over USA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMaVp_kQDqU

Please become a teammember and help donate to my fundraiser so that more teens can become proud of who they are, and let us raise awareness together.

Cheers,
Elise Marie

Sending a May vote to you after a bit of a hiatus. Spring time is the time when the belly dance community here goes into full force, and the vast majority of our shows are charity events, so I have been busy. Spring, however, is the time for new beginnings, and it was time for me to make some serious changes. New living arrangements, a new job, and new opportunities have dominated the past few months, but my Crowdrise friends were always close to my heart (even if my heart was not close to my computer during this time). I admit to feeling a bit out of touch, but hope to catch up quickly. Keep up the awesome job you are doing!
