HERE'S THE STORY:
One of the main goals of SikhNet is to provide inspiration and resources for our youth/children. Patterns of identity and self-esteem are formed early in life so we feel that it is of paramount importance that our children have the tools and resources they need in order to become more spiritual and successful individuals; able to cope with life in these modern times whilst being strong in their identity as a Sikh.
Many of us who are parents know the challenge of educating our children about Sikhi, which can be hard in these busy times & with so much outside influence of western media. Many parents have less and less time to spend with their children (particularly to teach them about Sikhi). We hope to assist in this situation by creating new ways for these young ones to get inspired about Sikhi through various forms of online media.
SikhNet has already produced over 80 original Sikh Audio stories</a> ( http://sikhnet.com/stories ) for Kids and Adults alike and we would like to take this to the next level. We would like to start to produce actual animated/moving video stories that kids can watch and see the story as well as hearing it.
We are also in production with the first Sikh online video game which is a major project for us. Our ultimate goal is to create a dedicated kids website that has lots of different services and things that kids can do, and is oriented towards kids. Depending on how much money we are able to raise for the project we can figure out how much we can do!
