STUFF ABOUT ME:
Hello everyone! I'm new to Crowdrise, but am very glad I found this page and I love the way they make it easy to participate and help others.
I was born in Suffern, New York and am 20 years old. I'm presently in my 10th semester of Medical School here in Medellin, Colombia, and graduate in December of 2011. Upon graduation I'm returning to the states to take the USMLE's. My plan is to do my specialization in Re-constructive Plastic surgery. It has been one of my dreams, after becoming a surgeon, to donate my time and money to help the poor and needy, especially children, born with cleft lip and palate, as well as burnt victims.
Since a young age I've liked helping others, I'm an animal lover, and I support the fight against global warming and deforestation. Unfortunately in Colombia there is not much of a social or environmental consciousness, and it has only been in the past few years that people have started becoming aware of the fact that we must protect this awesome world that we live in and do something about it. So I haven't had the chance to really participate in charities or foundations, at max trying to give inspirational speeches to my friends is all I've been able to do LOL. We've had international missions come to perform gratuitous surgeries (cleft lip and palate, cardio, etc) which I have always admired and am so sad that the few organizations that are in Colombia can not be sponsored by Crowdrise :( ..... Because their attorney won't allow it :P
So I have found 2 that I would like to support in this area, and hope all of you will support me along with the other projects that I'm supporting.
