EVENT DATE: May 16, 2012
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Apr 30, 2012
Tanenbaum is reaching out to all of you - who know just how devastating bullying can be. This is one way to improve children's lives and our attempt at making it easier than ever for you to get involved.
Students are being targeted at a public school in Brooklyn and their principal and teachers are doing something about it. Help the school combat issues like:
• Young girls wearing headscarves being singled out and called “Muzzie,” among other derogatory names.
• Kids struggling to learn English as a second language being ignored and made to feel invisible.
• Muslim and Afro-Caribbean students choosing to have nothing to do with each other and seeing no reason to change.
School officials know that these issues require attention.
Responding proactively, the school reached out to Tanenbaum, a non-profit that provides training in religion and diversity education. The principal is requesting a series of workshops and focus groups for staff, teachers and parents, in order to forge stronger relationships with the families and benefit the students.
Tanenbaum’s Education team will deliver the trainings this May 2012. We’re asking you to help by supporting this school in need!
