Last year on June 27th, a little boy named Pablo Castelaz passed away after a 13-month battle with Wilm's tumor, a rare form of childhood cancer. He was 6 years and 6 days old.
I learned about Pablo and his story after coming across the blog that his family published, which detailed their shared experience as Pablo underwent treatment. With each blog entry I read, I became more and more enchanted by this beautiful child who happened to live less than 5 minutes from my home in LA; he also played at the same parks that I grew up playing in and loved Billion Dollar Pancakes, my favorite meal from LA's best diner, Fred 62. For these reasons and more, I developed a strong passion for supporting the Castelaz family and The Pablove Foundation, which was formed shortly after Pablo was diagnosed and continues supporting pediatric cancer research in his memory.
On July 10th I turn 20 years old. It would mean more than I could ever express if you donated to The Pablove Foundation in lieu of gifts for my birthday this year. My fundraising goal is to find at least 20 people who will each donate $10.
I hope you will join me in honoring Pablo and all of the other children and families who have been affected by pediatric cancer.
