THE STORY:
Over 2 years ago I raised the bar on my running and began running for a reason - to fund research to find a cure for Neurofibromatosis. I "adopted" Mavia as my hero who, along with her family, made this a more personal journey.
In September of 2011, my brother-in-law Danny was diagnosed with an astrocytoma brain tumor. A few days before Christmas, Danny went to be with his Lord.
As our family tried to pull together every piece of information to understand and deal with Danny's tumor, the NF Research team and Children's Tumor Foundation were a tremendous resource for us. I learned that through the research I've help to fund with my running for NF (a part of the Children's Tumor Foundation) significant progress is being made in understanding, dealing with and preventing astrocytoma brain tumors like the one that took Danny's life.
I'm proud to run on the NF Endurance team. Only this year, unexpectedly, it is a bit closer to home. I love you and miss you Danny. And Mavia, I'm glad to know you and will keep running for a reason until we solve the NF puzzle.
I deeply appreciate every person who joins me in this effort.
