HERE'S THE STORY:
Please help out! I am running my first marathon on November 7, as part of TEAM FOR KIDS to raise money to help disadvantaged kids from all across the country participate in free programs!
When you donate to or raise funds for NYRR youth services, kids benefit. Childhood obesity is now an epidemic and many children are not getting the daily physical activity they need to lead healthy lives. The funds raised by Team for Kids members support New York Road Runners youth services programs and make a direct difference in children lives by providing:
- Training for teachers, coaches, field managers, and coordinators, most of whom are volunteers
- Incentives for children to encourage them to maintain attendance, demonstrate sportsmanship, and strive for and achieve fitness and personal-achievement milestones
- Entry fees and transportation costs so participants in our programs can compete in races and attend running-related sporting events
- Resources to establish programs in areas of greatest need.
Team for Kids started with a small group of runners participating in one race. Now, thousands of team members are running and receiving donations from generous contributors worldwide. This powerful outreach directly affects the number of children who benefit from our programs.
By pledging funds to a Team for Kids runner or joining the cause as a fundraiser, YOU are an important part of the solution. Together, we can end childhood obesity within a decade and give more children the gift of running.
