THE STORY:

MICHAEL J FOX FOUNDATION FOR PARKINSONS RESEARCH wrote -

Over 5 million people worldwide live with Parkinson's disease, a progressive, neurodegenerative disorder whose cause is currently not known. The Michael J. Fox Foundation was founded in 2000 with one goal — to accelerate the delivery of life-changing treatments, and ultimately a cure, to people with Parkinson's disease. Today MJFF is the largest private funder of Parkinson's research in the world. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is proud that $.86 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to our research programs.

Team Fox is the Foundation's grassroots community fundraising program, made up of thousands of people raising funds and awareness on behalf of MJFF. The ING New York City Marathon is a cornerstone of Team Fox. In 2009 a team of 220 New York City Marathon runners raised an incredible $857,000 for Parkinson's research. The Run Like a Fox program supports athletes all over the world in their goals of taking on physical and philanthropic challenges on behalf of the Foundation.

Help Team Fox have an even bigger NYC Marathon team in 2010! By committing to run for Team Fox, you will get a Nike running singlet and access online training support. We are thankful of every dollar raised for the foundation, however if you choose to fund raise $1,250 by October 15th, you will have the opportunity to participate in race-weekend activities such as pre- and post-race festivities as well as transportation to the starting line.
