THE STORY:
Dear family and friends,
Imagine waking up in the morning and not being able to get out of bed! What would it be like if you needed assistance doing every phyical movement you make in your day? How would you look at the world and what would drive you to continue on? Would life be a challenge?
I can tell you that for me, it definitely would be!
However, for my good friend, Mary Cox, she doesn't know the word "CAN'T"!
Mary was born with Muscular Dystrophy, a disease which slowly has deteriorated the muscles in her body since her 20's. Mary has an incredible spirit which is about endurance and making the most of life!
Racing provides Mary a sense of freedom and excitement that her disability took away.
Mary has inspired me to start myTEAM TRIUMPH, an athletic mentoring program for challenged athletes. mTT provides life-changing team-based endurance racing experiences to individuals with disabilities by pairing them with able bodied team members who push and pull them in road races and triathlons using specialized racing equipment.
Together, Mary and I have participated in marathons, century bike rides and many triathalons! What's next...
Run 50 miles non-stop together in the Fall 50
My goal is to raise $5000 ($100 per mile). This amount will allow myTEAM TRIUMPH to purchase two adaptive racing chairs (such as the one in the picture) that will afford challenged athletes the opportunity to have these same life-enhancing experiences with myTEAM TRIUMPH!
