THE STORY:
I am fundraising for the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps. This is a great organization that has been around for more than 75 years, and it is the last surviving world class drum corps in New England. I've been a fan of this corps since high school and have been a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee since 2006.
For those of you who don't know what drum corps is, I'd suggest you watch the youtube clip on this page, and look for other videos on youtube or at www.crusaders.com. Drum corps gives 150 college and high school age kids from around the country the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of people between May and August. During the summer, the Corps travels over 12,000 miles and participates in more than 40 competitions.
As a Board Member, I know how expensive it is to field a drum corps. Membership fees only cover about one-third of our annual budget. Your donation will be used to fund instrument purchases, uniform repairs, equipment truck improvements and other touring expenses of the Corps.
I believe strongly in the benefits the Corps can have on its members. That is why I am committed to raising $2,500 in donations. I will also commit to matching every donation I receive, up to $2,500, so each donation you make will have double the impact.
