Please sponsor Ryan and I as we run the 2012 Honda LA Marathon as a team for Team Kitten Rescue!
In early 2007, Ryan and I decided that we wanted to adopt a pet. I started an exhaustive internet and shelter search and was completely overwhelmed by the number of homeless animals in Los Angeles. I knew I had to do something to help. I attended a Kitten Rescue foster and volunteer meeting and was inspired by the devoted volunteers. With Ryan's blessing and support, I immediately began fostering cats and helping Kitten Rescue plan their first large scale fundraiser, the Fur Ball, which has become an annual event. Soon after, I was asked to sit on the Board of Directors.
Since then, Ryan and I have fostered over 50 cats and 1 dog. These animals have come from a variety of situations: some were young kittens trapped while helping TNR projects, some were scared friendly cats that were dumped at our adoption venues or shelters (including a mom cat and seven 2 week old babies!), and many of them were found in and around the Chatsworth soundstages and parking lots while I worked for the tv series '24' (including a blind feral cat that we successfully rehomed).
We also took in a KR K9 foster puppy, a 7 month old pointer mix who was hit by a car and abandoned by her owners. Ryan and I took care of her while she recovered from her broken bones and rehabilitated after her surgery. She fit in so well with the Posly household that we decided to make her a permanent member and adopted her. :)
Some have asked why after organizing 4 Fur Balls and fostering over 50 animals am I taking on this challenge of running a marathon? One reason is that I like to challenge myself (and Ryan) to do something difficult and new. Another reason is that we want the opportunity to promote Kitten Rescue and all that the organization does to help the homeless animals in LA. But mostly, it is because we want to help Team Kitten Rescue accomplish the goal of raising $50,000 this year. These funds will make a great impact in many deserving animals' lives, and allow us to save so many more.
