Once again, The Children's Room has put together an awesome team of runners for the Boston Marathon! Supporting their marathon efforts will help The Children's Room continue to be a hope-giving resource for grieving families and their communities.
The Children’s Room is the leading nonprofit grief support center in Massachusetts. At our home in Arlington, Massachusetts, families who are grieving the death of a parent, child, or sibling come together to receive support and understanding. We serve families from the Boston area and over 80 cities and towns across the state.
Children look forward to these biweekly groups that allow them the opportunity to share their experiences with peers. One child at TCR said, “The Children’s Room is where you can come with a broken heart and they help you bandage it up a little. It doesn’t heal it completely, but it helps a lot.” Through group discussions and expressive arts and activities, the staff and trained volunteers of The Children's Room create a safe environment for families to share their experiences with one another.
In addition to our peer support groups, parents also benefit from our discussion groups, workshops, and information referrals. Our educational workshops and consultations have allowed us to expand our impact to schools, hospitals, religious organizations, and individuals and professionals throughout Massachusetts.
