World Savvy’s mission is to educate and engage youth in community and world affairs. We are a leader in global education, providing interdisciplinary academic and arts programs for youth and dynamic professional development for educators to help integrate global issues into the classroom across all disciplines – science, math, history, arts, language, social studies and more. World Savvy was founded in 2002 in response to the urgent need for youth to acquire global knowledge and 21st century skills and an absence of quality, mainstreamed global education opportunities for K-12 students and teachers. As communities across the United States become increasingly diverse and our global interdependence is more apparent than ever before, the challenges facing our communities are more complex. For our society to collectively confront challenges today that are global in scope, all sectors – corporate, nonprofit and government – require globally literate and culturally competent employees, citizens, and leaders now. World Savvy’s global education programs tackle this challenge and prepare the next generation of leaders to learn, work and thrive as responsible global citizens in the 21st century.
World Savvy’s core programs focus on the integration of global content in school curriculum across disciplines through innovative professional development, curriculum and experiential learning opportunities that help students make connections between global issues and their personal lives and experiences. With this type of active and engaged learning, students acquire not only a deeper knowledge of a range of global issues, but also global citizenship skills, including critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving and media literacy, which are critical for personal and professional success. Ultimately, our programs support systemic change in K-12 education to provide every student in every classroom with the content knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to be leaders and change-makers in their diverse communities, locally and globally. The services we provide include:
