STUFF ABOUT ME:

I have always sought out a profession that helps inspire, and empower others.
Starting with a printed apparel company at the age of 18, which I built and operated for 10 years. I helped others express themselves by providing custom printed activewear - limited only by their imagination. I also provided custom artwork, including business logo, and advertisement design.

As a musician, I can play several different instruments, including drums (no, not at the same time). I have enjoyed playing professionally in a few bands, and also playing for church.

Ive been working with computers since the seventh grade. While using computers for graphic design, I saw computers as a powerful tool for inspiration, and expression. So for 15 years, I have been using information technology to inspire, and empower others. It has been an awesome experience. I have worked with countless different uses for PC's. Along the way, I have visited many interesting places, and met a lot of wonderful people.

A few years ago I decided that I wanted to find an opportunity to combine my skills, and talent for a good cause. Two years of R&D/Planning have gone into an idea perfect for me.

I have dedicated myself to inspire, and empower students using technology in some unique and innovative ways. My past efforts have been long term commitments involving success. This endeavor will also have my determination for many years to come. The design structure of my plans are dynamic which allow opportunity for great success - and I will succeed!

The amount and type of success depends on the level of involvement from people like you.
Participate a little, or a lot. Every bit helps. So, feed your curiosity by coming back to read about projects as more details are listed. Recent technologies, and their use, show such great promise to remove barriers in accessing a great education.

....well instead of trying to figure out how to write a compelling explanation of how... and ...why this will be interesting to many, I'm gonna get started posting the first project- for now.
But come back and I'll have more letters and words typed, that are so interesting you might think I created some new words.
Also, get a friend interested to learn about upcoming opportunities to empower students from all walks of life.

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:

Projects with wide audience appeal.
Children who learn only about jobs of today and do not learn about jobs in the future will find it hard to compete in the workforce when they graduate.

Every individual who participates will make a difference

Happy May! It’s finally spring, and kids will soon be running out the school doors into sweet summer freedom. But over 19,000,000 children across the country do not own a single book. Can you imagine a summer without even a little fun reading?

Please take a minute to check out Reader to Reader's newest fundraiser with Twive & Receive: http://twive.razoo.com/story/Amherst-Loves-Books Your donation on June 14th could help us win a share of $30,000! Now more than ever, the smallest donation can have a huge impact. You can sign up for a reminder email on our page, or if you just can't wait to get books in the hands of children, donate now. Thank you for your support!

Happy April, CR friend!
Reader to Reader is auctioning off some great artwork to raise funds for our many international programs, thanks to our friends at the ART4GOOD Foundation. If you like art, books, or education, stop by and take a look at the 35 beautiful pieces available! http://bit.ly/HjFtMO
You get a beautiful piece of art, and RTR can:
-provide special education programs for children in the Dominican Republic;
-teach women to read in Nigeria;
-keep abandoned children in childhood through reading and improve theater in rural China;
-sponsor Haitian kids to finish school;
-continue to grow our public library in a coffee-farming Costa Rican village;
AND support many other programs that do wonderful work in India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Kosovo, Ghana and other countries.
If art isn’t your thing, you can still support our programs by donating or joining our team. Take a look at my projects to see more of what we do.
All the best, and HAPPY READING,
Kat
