Righting Awrong's Fundraiser:

The Just Crust

THE STORY:

We are raising funds for the ICA Group so that they can help a group of investors keep Upper Crust pizza stores out of the hands of the man who exploited former Upper Crust workers and helped drive the company into bankruptcy. If successful, these investors would help make the infamous Upper Crust saga right by embracing a business model which gives workers partial ownership in the business.  Indeed, the Just Crust.

Here are some links to media reports which give you all the background information you need on this sordid affair (you may have to cut/paste them into your browser).  Help us put these pizza stores into the hands of operators who will treat workers equitably and fairly, instead of into the hands of the guy who exploited workers and still owes them $850,000 in back wages and damages according to the US Department of Labor and bankruptcy filings.

In the sad event that we are not successful in our efforts to put these pizza stores in the right hands, ICA Group will use any money raised here for helping former Upper Crust employees start their own cooperatively owned businesses, while also broadly supporting efforts to create economic opportunity and worker ownership for low income and immigrant communities in Massachusetts.  In other words, even if we don't win this fight, the money will still go to a great cause.
