I was introduced to CROWDRISE through a fundraiser for Ramana's Garden hosted at Golden Bridge NYC. I was honored to have the founder of Ramana's, Dr. Prabhavati Dwabha (affectionately known as Prabhu), stay at my home while she visited NYC. During our time together, Prabhu shared stories with me that were profoundly inspiring.

Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, one of my spiritual teachers and founder of Golden Bridge Yoga and Khalsa Way Prenatal Yoga, is guiding me to serve.

Currently I teach Kundalini Yoga and Khalsa Way Prenatal Yoga at Golden Bridge NYC and further serve the community through my position as Assistant Director there.

Friends of Ramana’s Garden, Inc. is a nonprofit charity established in 2005 in the United States. They support Ramana’s Garden India, a wonderful and loving children’s home and school near the renowned spiritual center of Rishikesh in northern India. Their mission as Friends is to support abandoned, destitute, and abused children who are given food, shelter, necessities, and education so they may thrive in a world that once seemed almost hopeless. One doesn’t have to be an “orphan” to come and live at Ramana’s Garden. One has to be at risk of, hunger, death, abuse, torture, or being sold into prostitution or child labor. Most of all, the children are given lots of love and nurturing in a welcoming and tolerant spiritual environment.

Today, a dozen years after opening its doors, Ramana’s Garden India is home to more than 60 resident children, many of whom have lost both parents. There are an additional 165 children from nearby impoverished families, many with a single parent, who come into school each day. Twelve paid professional teachers lead a solid curriculum of core classes, including Math, Science, English, Hindi, and the arts. The education provided is on a par with the best primary schools in India, and thus will serve to provide the kids with opportunities for adult careers that otherwise would be unimaginable. Ramana’s Garden India places a strong emphasis on environmental protection and creative expression such as painting, music, and dance. All children have the opportunity to study Classical Indian Dance. In Summer 2008, the Ramana’s Garden Dance Troupe, offering their message of love and oneness to hundreds of children and adults in hospitals, nursing homes, and some of London’s worst slums.
