The Shebedino Connection supports community development projects and improves access to resources for families in the Shebedino woreda of Sidama, Ethiopia. The Shebedino Connection's inaugural focus is to raise funds for the expansion of Plan International's successful water system initiatives in Shebedino.

Why is water so important?

In the developing world today, poor access to safe water and adequate sanitation continues to be a threat to the health of people in most developing countries.
Per Unicef, each year, children lose 272 million school days due to diarrhea, and an estimated one in three school-aged children in the developing world are infested with intestinal worms. Statistics also show that 2.2 million deaths of children are preventable through improvements in the provision of safe drinking water, basic sanitation and hygiene practices.

It all starts with clean water. Health, education, the ability to make a living through agriculture all depend on it.
