Hi All,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Think Pink Rocks!
Think Pink Rocks is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about early detection of and genetic testing for breast cancer and to provide funding for screening, treatment and research. Did you know: • A woman's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer is greatly increased if she carries the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation (Breast Cancer gene mutation). • Men with these mutations also have an increased risk of breast and prostate cancer. Our team will raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. All money raised for Think Pink Rocks from the New York City Half-Marathon will benefit breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Some members of our team have a direct connection to breast cancer, but we also have many team members who are running or walking simply because they want to support a great cause.Think Pink Rocks is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Contributions to Think Pink Rocks are tax deductable to the extent allowable by law.
I am running this 1/2 marathon, first time ever, for those from my past, My grandmother Vera who survived, My Grand Mother-In-Law Rose Lee who survives, And my Aunt Phyllis who passed away when I was 13. I am running this for my friend Meredith, who inspires me everyday to live my life to the fullest! And I running it for all of those that, sadly, will have to face this dreaded illness in the future. Most important I am running for my kids, who have been my rocks through rocky times and I hope I can inspire them with my setting and achieving goals, and hopefully their friends today, friends in their futures, my future grandchildren and generations to come will not suffer the pain and the loss that our generation has!
