Touch Foundation
Saving Lives in Tanzania
Run Hard. Save Lives.
Every day in Tanzania, people are dying needlessly from preventable diseases and injuries because there are not enough doctors and nurses to treat these patients.
Touch Foundation is addressing this extreme shortage by helping to educate, effectively deploy and retain skilled healthcare workers in Tanzania. We enable the training of healthcare cadres at CUHAS, a leading Tanzanian medical university. With Touch's support, CUHAS has grown from 10 M.D. students in 2004, to nearly 600 MD students currently enrolled or a total of 1,400 students across 13 cadres (including doctors, nurses, lab technicians etc) Since inception we have helped graduate 150 doctors and over 1,300 other healthcare professionals.
The newly trained healthcare workers are on the forefront of the fight against both infectious diseases such as HIV, malaria and TB but also chronic diseases such as cardiovascular, diabetes, cancer. Throughout their professional careers, they will treat and care for thousands of people and save many precious lives.
