I believe we all have a responsibility to give back. Growing up in Pittsburgh in the '70s, when the steel industry collapsed, I learned that everyone needs to work together to rebuild and preserve communities. Later, living overseas as a Peace Corps volunteer for several years, I realized how much we take for granted. We've lost the understanding that our freedom depends on everyone being included in our economy and society - when the divide between the have's and the have not's grows too large, communities fragment and people opt out. It's so important to realize that we're all connected and in this together!
I'm the Executive Director of River Tree Arts, a nonprofit community arts center in southern Maine, with the mission of bringing the joy and benefits of music, theater, and visual art to everyone, regardless of age, income, or prior experience. I recently joined Rotary International, and I'm looking forward to working on both local and international projects with this terrific worldwide service organization. The best Christmas gift I got this year was my husband and kids donating a goat in my name through Heifer Project.
I'm working with my son Nate to raise money for the Northern York County YMCA's swim program. Please check out the project and make a donation. Every bit will help us buy much-needed equipment. Thanks!
