HERE'S THE STORY:
Anyone who knows me knows I hate running. On the other hand, however, I hate cancer more. Thus, here I am, at the start of a new year, pledging to run the NYC Half Marathon as part of Team Stupid Cancer. I am running (and there really should be quotes around "running," to be fair) in honor of my kick-butt, cancer-surviving sister, Anastasia. She can be seen in my photos to the left - us celebrating her 2008 college graduation pre-diagnosis, her rocking one of her wigs during treatment in 2009, and posing more recently with our mom post-remission.
Team Stupid Cancer, in cahoots with the I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, was formed exclusively to support the young adult (ages 15-40) cancer community. Their vision of "no survivor alone" leads to a great deal of outreach, with every effort made to ensure that each young person is aware of the support resources available to him or her.
Every dollar is hugely appreciated (not to mention tax deductible!), and your donations go straight into continuing to provide support for the young adult cancer communtiy via the I'm Too Young For This!
